As a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and former Head of the Hip and Knee Division in Ng Teng Fong Hospital, he has won awards for superior patient outcomes (value driven), service quality and enhanced recovery programmes. Having trained in world renowned centres of excellences in UK and France, Dr Wang has extensive experience in ligament, meniscal and cartilage sports surgeries and complex revision hip and knee replacement surgery. In the UK, Dr Wang was awarded the Sir John Charnley Arthroplasty and Sports Reconstruction Fellowship in Wrightington Hospital, a UK designated Centre of Excellence. In France, Dr Wang underwent further training at the Albert Trillat Orthopaedic Centre which is an ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery / Sports Orthopaedics Medicine) and ESSKA (European Society of Sports and Knee Arthroscopy) approved centre as well as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence.
Dr Wang also pioneers advanced minimally invasive techniques for enhanced recovery such as robotic knee surgery and hip surgery (direct superior and direct anterior approaches). He is internationally recognised and is highly sought after to instruct and has accreditated surgeons from China, Japan, India, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in hip and knee surgery.
Dr Wang is trusted by the Orthopaedic community. He has been appointed as Adjunct Asst Professor with the National University of Singapore and is a Member of the National Residency Advisory Committee for Orthopaedics. He also acts as examiner and is a member of the Masters of Medicine (Orthopaedics) Committee with the National University of Singapore) and is a core faculty member of the NUHS Orthopaedic Residency Program.
Outside of work, Dr LS Wang is an avid sports person who plays football and futsal on a regular basis. In his younger days, he was captain of his medical university team in NUS and also covering medical doctor for then SAFFC (Singapore Armed Forces Football Club). He has an avid interest in tropical fish keeping and aquascaping.
